Policies and Guidelines

The following web policies and guidelines exist in order to preserve the quality and unity of the Missouri S&T web presence. If you would like to suggest a change in policy, please contact the Web and Interactive team.

Web Standards

Web content authors at Missouri University of Science and Technology are responsible for the content of the pages they publish and are expected to follow the highest standards of quality and responsibility.

Social Media Guidelines

We are responsible for S&T's official social media presence but encourage other departments and units to establish a presence on appropriate social media platforms.

Mass Electronic Communications Policy

The university must exercise appropriate control over electronic communications so that it may provide the best reputation management, delivery monitoring and limit unsolicited email messages.

And remember, what happens online does not always stay online.

Anonymous social media sharing apps like Yik Yak aren't as anonymous as you may think. Location data and IP addresses are logged by the applications used to post these messages. In most cases, that's all the information needed for law enforcement to determine your identity.

Students caught making threats of violence, in any form, are at risk of suspension and could face thousands in legal expenses–as well as a possible prison sentence. Please think before you post–it may seem like harmless, anonymous fun, but it's not.
